Summary

In internetworks, there are free flows of information. This means that it is also very easy for information to be
attacked and captures by unauthorized users. To guard against this situation, adequate security measures should be deployed.
Security attacks can be divided to internal or external, passive or active attacks, attacks to Web server, Web
browser, or network traffic between browser and server.
To restrict access to the company network or sections of the network from both the "bad Internet" outside
and from unscrupulous inside users, we my use a firewall. A firewall is hardware, software, or a combination of both that monitors and filters traffic packets that attempt to either enter or leave the protected private network.
On a multi-user system, users should not be allowed access to directories or files that do not belong to them.
One aspect of data security is to protect the contents of file or network data via encryption. By using encryption, data that falls into the wrong hands will be unusable unless an encryption key or password is also known.
Different authentication methods are used based on different authentication algorithms. These authentication
methods can be combined or used separately, depending on the level of functionality and security needed.
