Introduction

Internet commerce is a broad term covering all commercial activity on the Internet. Some examples of Internet commerce include auctioning, placing orders, making payments, transferring funds, and collaborating with trading partners. Internet commerce is not a synonym for electronic commerce (e-commerce) but one of its subsets (Business Dictionary 2012).

Internet commerce refers to business transactions over the internet and, in most cases, the transactions are carried out over a web system, so we may call it Web-based Electronic Business (Chan, et al. 2001).

In this lesson, we define Internet commerce (I-commerce), its major applications and technologies.
