8.6 MET Project Management Considerations

MET is a project management consideration has five stages-diagnosis, planning, action, evaluation,
and enhancement.

Diagnosis
The diagnosis stage of MET involves identifying the business. The interpretation of the current scenario
of the business has to be done in a holistic fashion to evaluate the solution. The diagnosis stage is mapped to the mobile transition by trying to identify demographics and mobile maturity. The initial studies, interviews, and meetings with the organizational representative provide information during this diagnostic stage on the state of the organization.

Planning
Accurate diagnosis leads to accurate planning. Therefore, in MET, the project plan is drafted on the basis of the diagnosis. The planning stage specifies how the diagnosed problems can be solved. The planned actions are guided by a framework that indicates a desired future state to be achieved by the organization under consideration. The plan also establishes the target for change and the approach to bring about that change in the organization.

Action
The action stage implements the planned actions. This stage in MET is the specific acting out of the plans. The organization has to work in synergy to implement the planned changes. During this action stage, many existing processes are modeled and refined, the organizational structures change, and hands-on project management comes into play.

Review and Feedback
At the completion of the action stage, the organization evaluates the outcome of the MET transition. The implemented software and system solution is evaluated, and the effectiveness of the transition is measured. This measure is reported as review and feedback to those responsible for the transition and also to business stakeholders.

Enhancement
Enhancing the MET process is an important last action of the business after the transition has taken place. The experience gained from and the issues discovered during the transition need to be incorporated in the MET framework. The resulting enhancements are of immense value to the MET framework.
