3.4 The Federation of Malaya

After the failure of the Malayan Union, the British Government introduced a new form of government, known as the Federation of Malaya (Persekutuan Tanah Melayu). However, it received opposition from several groups such as UMNO, AMCJA, MIC, PUTERA, API, PKMM, AWAS. After depth study on the claims of the various groups and their oppositions, the British government finally launched the establishment of the Federation of Malaya on 1st of February 1948. The claims by UMNO had been recognized by the British. Do you know what the UMNO's claims are? Let us see:
