When you see somebody, you should greet them by saying:

Hello
(Hello)

Assalamualaikum
(if they are Muslims)

Apa khabar
(How do you do)

Salam sejahtera
(Peace on you)

Awak sihat?
(Are you OK?)

After greeting them, you should ask their name, if you did know them.

Siapakah nama awak?
(What is your name?)

When you finish talking to them, you should say:

Gembira berjumpa awak
(nice meeting you)

Jumpa lagi
(nice meeting you)

Assalamualaikum
(nice meeting you)

4.1 Greeting People

If there is a third person, or the person that you greet come with somebody else, you should also greet him or asking about him.

Siapakah dia?
(Who is he/she?)

Datang bersama-sama?
(Do you come together?)
