Introduction

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Islam is a religion that propagates a complete way of life. No Muslim can deny the fact. However, how many Muslims really understand the meaning of being a true Muslim. Let us look at the story of Adri Adrian below:

Adri is a Muslim; who believes in Allah SWT, prays occasionally, eats halal food, and fasts during Ramadan (or tries to). He has performed on pre-hajj pilgrimages to Makkah. He has no doubt in Allah SWT but he cannot accept certain Islamic teachings like a man and woman who are not married yet cannot stay together in one house. He currently lives together with his girlfriend who is an English woman. "I want my girlfriend to convert, but she does not want to and I don't want to force her," he said. He enjoys his life and plans to get married to

What does the story tell you? It appears that Adriana is a Muslim because she believes in Allah SWT and do not deny the obligations imposed by Islam. However, it also seems that she is not following some of the teachings of Islam. How would you rate her as a Muslim? Do you consider her as a true Muslim or partial Muslim? How do you know that she is a true Muslim or not? To clarify the issue, let us look at the meaning of Islam, who is a true Muslim and the relationship between Islam, Iman and Ihsan.
