3.3 The Falsity of this Belief by Means of Reason and Divinely Transmitted Evidences

No sane person doubts that the person claiming: “Nothing exists in Heaven except Allah” or “Glory be to me how great is my state” as has been reported from al-Bistami, or as has been said by another:

The Lord of the Truth and the Servant of the Truth
How amazing, who then is the charged?
If you said the servant then he is dead
Or if you say: Lord who is the charged?

And the saying of another:

In everything are signs
Those indicate that He (Allah) is its essence.

And the saying of yet another Unitarian:

And none are you (Allah) but the universe
But you are its essence.

3.3 The Falsity of this Belief by Means of Reason and Divinely Transmitted Evidences

These words lead to disbelief may Allah save us; because it makes the Creator the essence of the creation just as it dissolves the difference between the Living that does not die and the loving that does. Rather, we may say that it denies the existence of the Lord the-All Blessed All Exalted-and makes man a god as has been explicitly claimed by some of the followers of these extremist sects from among the philosophical Sufis.

Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah-may Allah show him mercy-says:
“There was with us in Damascus a famous Sheikh who went by the name Ibn Hud; who was the most ascetic and knowledgeable and we had seen from among the Unitarians. He was also among those who praised Ibn Sab’een most and considered him greater than Ali ibn Arabi, his servant Ishaq and most people big or small. They used to obey him and his close students used to believe him to be Allah and the Messiah son of Mary, saying that the name of his mother is Mary.” Here ends his remarks.

He has said elsewhere in ‘The Compilation of Fatwas’ explaining the false belief of absorption and unity: “The school of those Unitarians like Ibn Arabi, Ibn Sab’een, al-Qawnuwi and al-Tilmisani consists of three subjects: the pillage of the al-Jahamiyyah and their destruction, the abstractions of the Sufis, and the irreligion of the philosophers which is the basis of their point of view.” Here ends his remarks.

What also functions to negate their beliefs is their claim the Pharaoh died a believer. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah-may Allah show him mercy-says: “This is evident disbelief known necessarily by Islam. According to my knowledge, Ibn Arabi is the first to have claimed as such from among the people of the qiblah. Not even the Jews or Christians have claimed such falsehoods but rather all followers of religions agree on the disbelief of Pharaoh.” Here ends his remarks.

All in all we may safely say that divine transmission has evidenced the falsity of the belief in absorption and unity, like Allah’s words:

(( أَفَمَنْ يَخْلُقُ كَمَنْ لا يَخْلُقُِ ))
Is He who creates like he who doesn’t.

And as the rational mind also agrees to the falsity and inconsistency of this belief; because correct reason prohibits the possibility of the Living that does not die to be embodied in an inanimate body or a living body that dies and perishes. Similarly it is required from the belief in unity that the Creator, All Exalted is he above what they prescribe-dissolves and becomes one with the animals such as the dog and pig as has been explicitly stated by one of their poet:

And what is the dog and pig other than our god
and what is Allah except a priest in Church.

Just as He similarly dissolves into dirty and disgusting places-according to their claims-all this is refuted by sane reason and conscious natural dispositions.
