1.3 Evidences from Divine Transmissions

The number of divinely transmitted reports that bear evidence of Oneness of Divine Lordship is undoubtedly numerous and popular that to collect them all is indeed a difficult task. This is because the Quran explains it thoroughly. Similarly the example of the Prophet (SAW) explains it thoroughly. Some of the Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths that have been explained by the scholars-may Allah bless them- have made clear how these evidences bear testimony of Allah’s Oneness of Lordship upon His creation and how He alone created this universe, manages the concerns of His creations and His preservation of the systems of this extraordinary universe from the minutest disorder. The evidences are:

Firstly: Allah says:
Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, - there are indeed Signs for men of understanding,- Men who celebrate the praises of Allah, standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and contemplate the (wonders of) creation in the heavens and the earth, (With the thought): "Our Lord! Not for naught Hast Thou created (all) this! Glory to Thee! Give us salvation from the penalty of the Fire. [3:190-191]

Imam Ibn Mundah-may Allah show mercy on him-said:
“Allah informs us that the heavens and earth is a sign for those who contemplate and understand. He then commands them to ponder over its creation saying:

“and contemplate the (wonders of creation in the heavens and the earth” and informs us of its elevation saying:

“or the heaven (above)? ((Allah)) hath constructed it: On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection.” [79:27-28]

Secondly: Allah says:

Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together. The living and the dead. And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? [77:25-27]

In these verses Allah the All Exalted directs mans reason and attention to the two evidences of creation and cares how all men shares in its comprehension and the right to infer from it regardless of the intellectual capabilities. If a Bedouin Arab sitting under the shade of his tent was to hear it, he would immediately understand that this earth that carries him on its back alive will one day swallow him in its belly dead. And that these firmly established mountains that keep the world from splitting, and the flowing water from which he and his animals draw benefit instructs him that these phenomenon and other signs which are witnessed throughout the world are among the greatest evidences of Allah’s Oneness of Divine Lordship and His Oneness.

1.3 Evidences from Divine Transmissions

Ibn Abi al-Iz al-Hanafi-may Allah show mercy on him-says:
“As for the second which is Oneness of Divine Lordship like the affirmation that He is the Creator of everything, and that the world does not have two creators completely equal in their attributes and actions, and that this Oneness is true, no doubt about it, and is the objective of the majority of the people of contemplation, theologians and a sect of Sufis. This Oneness has not been disputed over by any from among the children of Adam, but rather that hearts are naturally predisposed to affirm it more than it is inclined to affirm anything else from among existence. We are informed through what Allah says the Messengers have said:

"Their messengers said: "Is there a doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth?” [14:10]

And the most famous for his disregard and pretension of the denial of a creator is Pharaoh who was internally certain of this truth as Allah has mentioned:
Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening evidence… " [17:102]

1.3 Evidences from Divine Transmissions

It is not known that anyone belonging to any sect has said that the world is his and has two creators perfectly symmetrical in attributes and actions.” This ends his remarks.

Al-Maqrizi-may Allah show mercy on him-says explicating the clear evidences for the case of Oneness of Divine Lordship and Godship: “It is that which the polytheists deny and The Lord the All Exalted remonstrates against them by means of their acceptance of His Oneness of Divine Lordship for the acceptance of His Oneness of Divine Godship. Each time He the All Exalted makes mention of His signs, He says at the end of the sentence:

“Is there a partner with Allah”.

With this Allah the All Majestic makes evident that the polytheists refrain from establishing Oneness of Divine Godship but not Oneness of Divine Lordship. Although among them are those who have associated partners regarding Oneness of Divine Lordship details of which will come shortly by the will of Allah. Overall, He the All Exalted remonstrates against those who deny His Godship by establishing their acceptance of His Lordship. Kingship: is the Commander the Prohibiter who does not create creation by virtue of His Lordship but leaves them in their idle paralysis, not commanded nor prohibited, rewarded or punished, for indeed the King is the Commander, Prohibiter, Giver, Preventer, Distresser, Propitious, Rewarder and Punisher.” And here ends his remarks.

1.3 Evidences from Divine Transmissions

Sheikh Muhammad al-Amin al-Jakani al-Shanqiti-may Allah show mercy on him-while talking about the types of Oneness and its evidences said:
“ Firslty: His Oneness is in His Lordship and this type of Oneness is a natural disposition of those with sense. Allah has said:
If thou ask them, who created them, they will certainly say, Allah. [43:87]

And Pharaoh’s denial of this form of Oneness is stated by Allah in His words:
Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds?" [26:23]

1.3 Evidences from Divine Transmissions

Totally disregarding that he is a nurtured slave by virtue of the evidence of Allah’s testimony:
Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening.[17:102]

In addition to:
And they rejected those Signs in iniquity and arrogance. [27:14]

1.3 Evidences from Divine Transmissions

The Quran is largely adopts the argument against the non-believers of their recognition of His Divine Lordship as necessitating His Oneness in His worship. For this reason, He addresses them regarding His Divine Lordship with an affirmative question for which if they affirmed His Divine Lordship, He then uses it against them that He is indeed alone worthy of being worshiped. He then reproaches them for their associating others other than He, although having recognised that He alone is Lord. For whosoever recognizes that He alone is Lord is required to recognize that He alone is worthy of worship. From among the evidences that support this is Allah’s declaration:
Say: "Who is it that sustains you (in life) from the sky and from the earth? Or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? [10:31]

Up to his:
They will soon say, "(Allah)" [27:14]

1.3 Evidences from Divine Transmissions

Soon their affirmation of His Divine Lordship, He reproaches them for their associating others other than He by His words:
So say will you not fear God. [10:31]

It is for this reason we have mentioned elsewhere that all questions related to Oneness of Divine Lordship are affirmative questions for which intend that if they affirm then reprimand and repudiation are the result of their affirmation. This is because he who affirms Divine Lordship is necessarily obliged to affirm Divine Godship even if some scholars have argued that it is a negational question because extrapolation of Quran indicates an affirmative question and not a negational one. Indeed they did not deny Divine Lordship as has been evidenced by the many verses indicating as such.” Here ends his remarks.
