1.7 Is testimony of the Oneness of Divine Lordship sufficient to enter Islam?
We have repeatedly mentioned that Oneness of Divine Lordship is not denied by the sane as it is deeply engraved in the pure natural disposition. Nobody is known to have said: this world has two creators perfectly alike in attributes and actions.
Ibn Abi al-Iz al-Hanafi-may Allah show mercy on him-says:
“As for the second: which is Oneness of Divine Lordship, like the affirmation that He is the Creator of all things, and that the world does not have two creators perfectly alike in attributes and actions. This Oneness is true with a certainty that bears no doubt, and it is the final objective sought by the religious contemplation and theology along with a group of Sufis. This form of Oneness has never been challenged by any known group from among the children of Adam, but rather that the hearts are naturally inclined towards it more than in its inclination to anything other than it from among existence.” Here ends his remarks.
1.7 Is testimony of the Oneness of Divine Lordship sufficient to enter Islam?
Based on this, Oneness of Divine Lordship alone is not sufficient to enter Islam in so long as recognition of the Oneness of Divine Godship is not included. If Oneness of Divine Lordship alone was sufficient to enter Islam, the polytheist Arabs in pre-Islamic times would be Muslims and the Prophet (SAW) would not have fought them. Similarly Pharaoh and his people would be believers as they were certain of Allah’s existence but Pharoah’s denial of
“And who is the Lord of the Worlds.” is the ((وَمَا ربّ العالمين)) Allah in Allah’s words:
denial of a person who knows but rather that it was a denial out of arrogance. For this reason we find sects attributed to Islam which claim that knowledge of Allah in the heart is sufficient to enter Islam as is the belief of the people prescribing to the doctrine of unity and absorption along with the doctrine of unity of existence, among them are those who even endorse the belief of Pharaoh.
1.7 Is testimony of the Oneness of Divine Lordship sufficient to enter Islam?
Sheikh Sulayman ibn Abd Allah AAl al-Sheikh-may Allah show him mercy-says:
“This tawheed is not sufficient for a servant to acquire Islam but rather requires its necessary component of Oneness of Divine Godship to accompany it. This is because Allah tells of the polytheists who affirmed Oneness of Divine Lordship alone in His words:
| (( |
)) |
إلى قوله: |
Say: "Who is it that sustains you (in life) from the sky and from the earth? Or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? And who is it that brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living? And who is it that rules and regulates all affairs?" They will soon say, "(Allah)". [10:31]
1.7 Is testimony of the Oneness of Divine Lordship sufficient to enter Islam?
They knew that all of it belongs to Allah alone but they did not submit to it. Allah says:
| [يُوسُف:١٠٦] |
(( |
وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ بِاللَّهِ إِلا وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ |
)) |
And most of them believe not in Allah without associating (other as partners) with Him! [12:106]
So it is necessary upon all who are aware of Allah to contemplate and investigate the reason that caused their blood to be shed, their women arrested and their possessions permissible all the time having this affirmation and awareness. All this is for no reason other than their association with the Oneness of Allah’s worship which is the meaning of that there is no God save Allah.” Here ends his remarks.
