1.6 Oneness of Divine Lordship is evidence of Oneness of Divine Godship
No one doubts that Oneness of Divine Lordship is evidence of Oneness of Divine Godship except the arrogant disputant. He who bears witness that Allah the All Exalted is the Creator, Maker, Provider, Manager, Giver of Life and Death in His hands exists all goodness gives clear testimony that the Lord for whom these are His attributes and powers is indeed alone worthy of being worshipped with pure sincerity. He alone is worthy of being the sought of objective for all hope, acts and supplications. This is what Quran has evidenced through the polytheists moving towards Allah in their recognition of His Lordship and that it is incumbent upon them to unite in worship.
For indeed the sane mind does not permit hearts to guide to hope, acts and supplements for the fulfilment of their desires to any who does not hear, see, give benefit or harm and cannot profit a person in anyway whatsoever. For this reason the questions found in Quran exhibit the polytheists recognition of His Oneness of Divine Lordship are presented in the affirmative so that their recognition entails reprimanding and belittlement on account of their denial of this recognition.
1.6 Oneness of Divine Lordship is evidence of Oneness of Divine Godship
Sheikh Muhammad al-Amin al-Jakani al-Shinqiti-may Allah show mercy on him-says:
“The Quran is replete with the argument against the non-believers on account of their recognition of the Divine Lordship of the Most Exalted which necessarily entails His Oneness in His worship. For this reason He addresses them regarding Oneness of Divine Lordship with affirmative questions, if they were to affirm His Divine Lordship He then remonstrates against them that He alone is worthy to be worshipped just as He then reproaches them for their association in His worship after their earlier recognition. Among the examples for this is Allah’s words:
| (( |
قُلْ مَنْ يَرْزُقُكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ |
)) |
| [يونس:٣١] |
(( |
فَسَيَقُولُونَ اللَّهُ |
)) |
إلى قوله: |
Say: "Who is it that sustains you (in life) from the sky and from the earth? Or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? And who is it that brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living? And who is it that rules and regulates all affairs?" They will soon say, "(Allah)". [10:31]
1.6 Oneness of Divine Lordship is evidence of Oneness of Divine Godship
After affirming His Divine Lordship, He severely reproaches them for their association of other deities with His words:
| [يونس:٣١] |
(( |
فَقُلْ أَفَلا تَتَّقُونَ |
)) |
"will ye not then show piety (to Him)?" [10:31]
(Who) is better? Allah or the false gods they associate (with Him)? Or, Who has created the heavens and the earth, and Who sends you down rain from the sky? Yea, with it We cause to grow well-planted orchards full of beauty of delight: it is not in your power to cause the growth of the trees in them. (Can there be another) god besides Allah. Nay, they are a people who swerve from justice. [27: 59-60]
1.6 Oneness of Divine Lordship is evidence of Oneness of Divine Godship
Undoubtedly they have no response other than this for He who is capable of creating the heavens and earth and that which was mentioned with it is better than an inanimate body not capable of anything. So when their recognition had been identified and made manifest, He severely reprimands them with His words:
| [النمل:٦٠] |
(( |
أَإِلَهٌ مَعَ اللَّهِ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ يَعْدِلُونَ |
)) |
(Can there be another) god besides Allah. Nay, they are a people who swerve from justice. [27:60]
For this reason, we have mentioned elsewhere that all questions regarding Oneness of Divine Lordship are affirmational questions intended to reproach those who deny after their recognition. For indeed he who affirms Divine Lordship is required to recognize Divine Gopship even if some scholars have argued that it is a negational question because extrapolation of Quran indicates an affirmative question and not a negational one. Indeed they did not deny Divine Lordship as has been evidenced by the many verses indicating as such.” Here ends his remarks.
