The curriculum issue is important in preparing the teacher to his job. It enables him recognizing the concepts, elements, how to build it and the steps of building. Also, it enables him understanding the various curriculum procedures as well as to know their values. Here are some basic concepts in this field in order to be a background that may enable the students, and the readers to understand the meaning of the curriculum.

The curriculum concept

It is a course, especially, of study at school or university. There are two concepts of curriculum;

The traditional one
It comes from the traditional education which considers supplying the learners with a great amount of
knowledge is its main objective to prepare them to life. This concept neglects the other sides and the
needs of the learners such as; the social, the art, the sport and the other sides of the growth.
The modern one
It is the group of experiences which school gives to its pupils, whether inside or outside it, in order to
help them in their comprehensive growth in all their sides which leads to modify their behaviors and
enables them dealing, successfully, with their environment and their society as well as to find solutions to
their problems.

Design the curriculum

Designing is putting a plane to accomplish a stated project using the available resources.

This meaning of designing makes it of two levels:

1. The first level: is the one that states the general bases which the design will be built upon.
2. The second level: It is the one that is before building the curriculum where the bases stated in the first level
are taken in account during the building operation.

The curricula expert studies the bases taking in account the philosophical, social, culture and environmental dimensions. In this light he starts the building operation.

Building the curriculum

This operation takes five continues steps which are;

Stating the objectives.
Choosing the educational content and experiences.

Testing the curriculum

This step is recommended before formulating the curriculum and put it into real act. This operation starts gradually on some schools then in some areas. After that we collect information about it from all the parties of the educational operation.

The Curriculum evaluation

It is the operation of collecting the evidences which help identifying how far the curriculum efficiently is a system of achieving the stated objectives. This operation should be ended by reporting which stated points need some modifications.

The development of the curriculum

This operation is done in the light of the results from the previous operation. This operation also should be done comprehensively on all the connected elements. This operation depends upon some bases such as scientific planning and the comprehensive studding of environment, society and the international trends.
