Introduction


Schools have been known in the Islamic community starting from the 4th century of Hijra. The first school ever was built in "Nisapoor" and it was called "Al Madrassa Al Bayhakya ,Then the Seljuk's minster "Nezam Al Mulk" has built some great schools in which education is free of charges and paid salaries to the teachers and rewards to the students.

At first, Schools were built like mosques in shape but with additional hall called "Iwan" for classes as well as big as the universities in it's a great area and the Varity of sciences.

Schools might be built for many reasons. Of they are the following:
For calling and inviting people to join special belief and to follow it.
The development of knowledge and emergence of new sciences that demand conversations
which could not be taught in mosques due to the mosques nature that demands the calmness.
The high numbers of students which the mosque could not be able to contain.

Introduction


Schools have made a great development in the Islamic educational system. These schools have become one of the formal foundation in the state where in clerks and employees graduated .They ,also, had got systems where education became regular as the schools of today.

The princes and ministers were interested in building schools in beautiful places beside rivers like the Mostanssirya school which has been built in an area of M2 4836 where a great salary paid to each teacher and a monthly sum to each student .In Damascus ,The minster Nour Aldeen Zinky built Al Nouria school in 563 A.H on M2 1500 and it is still exist. In Cairo Al Shafya school was the first school in Cairo, then Assalehya school .There found in that time 18 schools.

The subjects, in the schools, were varied .We had schools for the Islamic sciences and special school for medicine only such as Addakhorya school and Addnissirya.

The educational curriculum ,also, varied, from a place to another and from a belief to another.

Introduction


The duration of studying in the schools was not stated but it was of two groups ; One was for the beginners and the other was for the students who were specializing in a subject. The days of studying ,also, varied according to the condition and the regulation of every school.

Schools .now, are of a high organized systems in the Islamic countries. They are under the governmental control where the government achieves its goals ,specially, the long term ones ,through it. We can see, now, nongovernmental schools in our societies which are possessed to non Islamic owners. We must be careful when dealing with such schools.

The importance of schools is not only teaching our children reading and writing ,but also preparing them to be useful members in the community. So great responsibilities are on the shoulders of the educational planers, managers, headmasters, inspectors, directors, teachers and curriculum designer to produce a good strong Islamic generation.
