1.1 The role of Measurement and Evaluation in teaching

Why do we need measurement and evaluation?

A test or examination (or "exam") is an assessment intended to measure a test-taker's knowledge, skill, aptitude, physical fitness, or classification in many other topics (e.g., beliefs).

Measurement is the process or the result of determining the ratio of a physical quantity, such as a length, time, temperature etc., to a unit of measurement, such as the meter, second or degree Celsius.

Evaluation is systematic determination of merit, worth, and significance of something or someone using criteria against a set of standards.
