The Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) initiative has been launched, a national Malaysian |
| governmental initiative to provide large-scale ICT and multimedia infrastructure and services. |

Geographically, the MSC is located in a rectangle area (corridor shape) bracketed by the Kuala Lumpur |
| City Centre to the north and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. |

MSC is intended to provide the ICT environment to attract skilled workers, researchers, entrepreneurs |
| and companies to invest and work in Malaysia. |

MSC has three phases and it operations are managed by the Multimedia Development Corporation |
| (MDeC). |

In the first phase (1996-2004), a framework of cyber laws was devised paving the way to the |
| establishment of the Cyberjava city attracting companies and skilled workers. |

The second phase (2004-2011) aims to link the MSC with global knowledge cities. |

The third phase (2011-2020) aims to expand the MSC project nationwide to achieve the knowledge- |
| based economy 2020 target. |

MSC growth is based on a number of flagship applications including Smart School, MyKad, Telehealth |
| and E-government. |
