Introduction

In this lecture, an introduction to project management is provided starting with a definition of a project and its main characteristics. Then, a description of the project management is given with the project management knowledge areas addressed. This is followed by an overview of some of the available project management tools and techniques. Finally, the role and the required skills for project managers are then discussed.
