20.6 Wireless Computer Networks and Internet Access

Bluetooth :
The Bluetooth wireless technology is a global standard that has appeared in the early 2000s which can connect portable devices with each other such as keyboards, printers, computers, mobile phones, pocket PC, audio devices and digital cameras, and all that done by making a small are network with a very close range.
Establishing a bluetooth network with one device connected to the Internet can allow other devices in the network to access the Internet using the Internet-enabled device.

Wi-Fi :
Wi-Fi is a term taken from Wireless Fidelity which means wireless connectivity.
It is technically known as the 802.11 networking standard.
It is easy to use and considered as faster access technology, it works on the radio frequencies. Wi-Fi can be installed on the computers and connect them through a router hub.
The computer requires a wireless NIC (network interface card) containing a built-in radio and antenna.
The user who wants to access the internet needs to use a Hotspot.

These hotspots are proliferating in many public places and also called the Access Point.
The main problem in the access point is the lack of security.
To keep a continuous connectivity and prevent the drop in internet access, Wi-Fi technique needs to create more access points also for providing a blanket coverage without interruption.

WiMax
Wi or the global operational structure of crossing the microwave is a modern communication technology which aims to provide a wireless data over a long distances with a broadband via a cellular phone, It is an abbreviation for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access and compatible with the global standard IEEE known as 802.16 .
WiMax is designed for high speed data transmission and increases the range of transmissions up to 30 miles.
