3.3 Efficiency


In general terms, efficiency is fulfilling a task using the least resources maintaining the best quality.
In the context of global E-businesses, IS should be using the required resources to the full and making sure quality of service is not compromised.
IS allows for saving costs for example on needing less paper work.
It might be that even more business activities can be automated using the current IS.
If this is the case then the use if the current IS is not fully efficient and can be improved.
Studying efficiency allows for reviewing the resources being used and deciding on whether less or more resources are needed.
