ISs, at the operational level, are responsible for ensuring that the more daily business activities are run in the appropriate way and according to plan.
A smooth flow of information on this level is essential for the business operation to be all coordinated, implemented, and reviewed.
Operational IS includes staff payroll and sales.
The importance of this type of business IS lies in the part it plays in the decision making process for operational managers.
The right set and implementation of the operational-level IS set the basis for all types of business IS.
Figure 3.4 illustrates a typical payroll system.
