4.10 Human Resources (HR)


Human resources IS helps collect, analyze and store valuable information related to employees.
Figure 4.7 shows an example of how information flows throughout the HR department.
Employees details for instance should be obtained from the employee, classified and stored in the appropriate manner making it easy to retrieve when needed.
This may include data on employees job title, bank details and appraisal forms.
IS should be implemented to accommodate the type of data that will be processed.
It should also facilitate management making more informed decisions.
Such HR IS may imply the use of computer databases, payroll software and online recruitment procedure.
