1.1 Computer graphics

People use the term "Computer graphics" to mean different things in different contexts.

Computer graphics is an extremely effective medium for communication between man and computer.

It was started as a technique to enhance the display of information generated by a computer.

It is concerned with all aspects of producing pictures or images using a computer.

Simply, computer graphics are pictures that are generated by a computer or the computer's ability to draw or to produce images from some given geometrical models, thus,

Computer Graphics = Geometric description + Graphics algorithms + Programming Language

For the programming language, we are going to introduce in chapter 3, a particular graphics software system called OpenGL which has become a widely accepted standard for developing graphics applications.

It is emerged from Silicon Graphics, Inc., in 1992 and has become a widely adopted graphics application programming interface (API).

1.1 Computer graphics

There are two types of computer graphics:
Passive computer graphics: It is the creation, storage, and manipulation of models of object and their picture.
Interactive computer graphics: It is the important case in which users dynamically control the pictures content, format, size, or colors on a display surface by means of graphics input devices such as keyboard, joystick, or mouse.
