Introduction


This unit will deal with the following issues:

Software quality assurance (SQA) can be defined according to the IEEE Glossary (IEEE, 1991) as:
A planned and systematic pattern of all actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that an item or
product conforms to established technical requirements.
A set of activities designed to evaluate the process by which the products are developed or manufactured.
Contrast with quality control.
The IEEE definition restrains the scope of SQA in several directions, excluding maintenance and timetable and
budget issues. It emphasis on planning and systematic implementation.
