Summary
The objective of good design , whether of products (goods) or services, to satisfy customers by meeting their actual or anticipated needs and expectations. Steps in design process includes: (1) Idea development, (2) Product screening, (3) Preliminary design and testing, and (4) Final design. Design technology, means using technologies such as: Information technology, Automation, and e-Manufacturing.
Service design process consist of two main steps: service concepts, and service packages, which leads to performance specifications, design specifications, and delivery specifications, using quantitative tools such as waiting line analysis. Improving quality design can be done by several ways like: Quality function Deployment, Value engineering, and Taguchi methods.
